Monday’s club night saw a great turnout as we looked to implement a few new ideas. First up the new monthly show table was a great success! Seven club members brought along trees for the table and we all had a chance to vote on our favourite as the evening progressed. Everyone had clearly taken care to make sure the trees looked their best and the display really added to the atmosphere.
A lovely Potentila received the most votes and was crowned tree of the month. In a beautiful unglazed round pot with good branch structure and ramification. The progression pictures displayed with it really showed how far it had come in a short time. Looking forward to seeing what everyone will bring next month!
February Tree of the Month
The theme for the night was a ‘Tree of the Year’ which saw most people bringing in a tree that needed work or a change of direction. The trees were photographed in their current state and then work began. We’ll keep track of them and, at our November meeting, we’ll bring them back so we can see their progress and hopefully have a good chat about any lessons we have learnt. Although it’s more about learning than the competition we will have a vote and the best progression will be declared “Tree of the Year”.
We had the welcome return of the raffle with huge thanks to Jess for taking responsibility for selling tickets!
Thanks also to Anne who was on tea duty as always, keeping us hydrated and full of biscuits!
Great to see everyone and enjoy lots of tree-related chat. Looking forward to next month when Steve Brown will be leading a workshop evening for us. That’s it for now I really need to go and start work on my tree of the year….!!
